Location

Jopi Hostel Centrum is at ul. Plebiscytowa 23 in central Katowice, and its location is what guests praise most. Getting there

From Katowice-Pyrzowice airport, about 24 km away, the AP bus runs every 30 minutes (hourly between midnight and 3am) and takes about 49 minutes. It stops at the underground bus station beneath the railway station, a few minutes' walk from the hostel. Trains also run from Pyrzowice Lotnisko station, about 500 m from the terminals, and the official airport taxi waits outside Terminal C.

From Kraków-Balice, take the train to Kraków Główny, then one of the frequent trains to Katowice, about an hour's journey. GZM public transport tickets are sold in the Transport GZM app and at machines, or you can pay by contactless card on board. The hostel has no parking; nearby paid public car parks include APCOA on ul. Wojewódzka and Galeria Katowicka.

What to see

Closest are the Cathedral of Christ the King, built in 1927–1955 and the largest cathedral in Poland by volume, the Bishop's Palace and the Archdiocesan Museum. About 600 m away, the Museum of the History of Katowice shows reconstructed middle-class apartments and a collection of works by Witkacy. In the evening, stroll to the Market Square and pedestrianised Mariacka Street, with its pubs and bars.

About 1.5 km away lies the Culture Zone: the Silesian Museum in the former Katowice coal mine, with underground galleries and a viewing tower, the NOSPR concert hall with acoustics by Yasuhisa Toyota, the Spodek and the International Congress Centre. Trams serve Silesian Park and Silesia City Center, and buses run to Nikiszowiec, a historic workers' estate. June brings Tauron Nowa Muzyka, summer OFF Festival and spring the European Economic Congress.
